PositionDescription

The MaintenanceSupervisor is responsible for providing leadership for theengineering and maintenance functions and ensuring properpreventive maintenance of physical plant and all operatingequipment, electrical troubleshooting, minimizing equipmentdowntime to provide maximum production capacity, and compliancewith all OSHA regulations.

Additionally, this position manages thestaff to keep function within budget and properly staffed andtrained.

Shift : Nights, 6pm-6am; AWS 2-2-3(hours could vary based on production needs)

Responsibilities andDuties

  • Maintains daily work log documenting the salientequipment / process incidents requiring follow-up actions.
  • Participates in, and supports, the department safetytraining program. (I.E. : weekly safety meetings, shop safetyinspections, enforcement of lock-out / tag-out program, ArcFlash / Shock Hazard Program, enforcement of the confined spaceprogram, etc.).
  • Conducts accidentinvestigation of all injuries requiring medical attention (or asrequested by Plant management).
  • Assesses theskills and abilities of assigned personnel and develops trainingopportunities to close the skills gap.

Development of the Weekly WorkSchedule

Receivesapproved schedules together with relevant work orders and otherplanning documents from the planner / scheduler.

Discusses workschedule as necessary to understand special instructions orconsiderations to be observed in the execution of the jobs andreviews new jobs coming up in the future.

  • Coordinates work process improvement actions tostreamline the accomplishment of the work schedule.
  • Supervises the quality of workmanship of assigned workcrew by auditing work during and after work completion.
  • Adjusts weekly work schedule each day to ensure adequatework coverage based upon the work order priority and craftavailability.
  • Reviews the actual laborexpended versus estimated labor and material used for completedjobs, in order to determine corrective measures needed to improvethe accuracy of estimating and improving methods of doingwork.
  • Assists planner in examination of jobsto be done and determination of scope and best way to accomplishthe work.
  • Obtains blueprints, drawings,instructional manuals and special procedures, as needed, from filesor other sources. Makes any additional sketches, diagrams, etc.

  • Knowledgeable of and able to utilize the computerizedmaintenance management system to accomplish departmentgoals.
  • Thoroughly understands and supports thework management process. Enforces department adherence to properwork request / order procedures.
  • Ensures thesafety needs are given a top priority in work execution.

WorkProcess

  • Notesequipment / process performance improvement opportunities, opens workrequests to document improvement suggestions, and facilitatesequipment improvement opportunities by working with the Planning& Scheduling to effect necessary planning and workscheduling.
  • Acts as the principle contactbetween Production Supervision and the MaintenanceDepartment.
  • Ensures the production areasreceive prompt, efficient and quality service from the maintenancefunction and ensures the maintenance function is given theopportunity to provide this service.
  • Coordinates plant maintenance requirements with thePlanner / Scheduler to effect necessary upgrades, modifications andrepairs.
  • Keeps the Maintenance Managerproperly informed on all abnormal or critical situations and seeksadvice on matters outside of the supervisor’s knowledge orauthority.
  • Utilizes data to analyze equipmentfailure modes, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), etc. andsuggests / implements improvement processes to reduce or eliminateequipment / process failures (I.

E. : PM inspection improvements,predictive maintenance techniques, maintenance employee training,etc.).

PreventativeMaintenance Program

  • Assists the Planner / Scheduler in the development of PMinspections for new / existing equipment.
  • Ensures Preventive Maintenance (PM) inspections arecompleted as written in the work order.
  • Recommends PM inspection frequencies (days, cans or casesproduced, hours, etc.).
  • Works with thePlanner / Scheduler to implement production based PM frequency rates(I.E. : bottle counts, case counts, hours of operations, etc.

toreduce over-inspecting equipment and wasting maintenancelabor.

TotalProductive Manufacturing

  • Participates in and champions the TPM ProfessionalMaintenance process.
  • Maintains the PM PillarBoard current and is prepared to brief Pillar Board contentsanytime.
  • Drives relentless reduction ofbreakdown losses through Breakdown Analysis and other appropriateFocused Improvement Tools.
  • Supports theAutonomous Maintenance process by providing training and support,as appropriate.
  • Leads the development of AssetMaintenance Plans for all assigned plant criticalassets.
  • Supports the Maintenance Preventioneffort in support of the Early Equipment ManagementPillar.

Requirements

Education &Experience :

  • Undergraduate Degree (orequivalent experience) plus four (4) years experience in a highspeed manufacturing environment with a mechanical / electricalbackground required.
  • Strong leadershipcapabilities in a fast-paced production environmentrequired.
  • Certified Maintenance ReliabilityProfessional (CMRP) or equivalent is highly desired.
  • Previous experience in the food / beverage manufacturingindustry preferred.

Position-Specific Skills :

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel,& Outlook) with the ability to learn new applications asrequired.
  • An understanding of SQF,responsibility for Food Safety / Food Quality and the responsibilityto take action when notified or becomes aware of any Food Safety orFood Quality issue.
  • Must be flexible to workalternate shifts if production needs allow.

  • Physical- Continuously standing or walking.
  • Visual / Sensory - This position requires regular need togive moderate attention with one or two senses at atime.
  • Work Environment - Work and environmentare very repetitive.

Climate : Thisposition requires the incumbent to have the ability to work inambient hot and / or cold seasonal environments.
